Principal Supervisors Profile:
Dr Neil Filgate M.B, B.S, B, Med.Sc., has been a full time GP since 1983. He has been actively involved in the training of medical students in general practice and examined for UTAS Medical School. He has a particular interest in IT and has been an active promoter of this in the area of general practice. He has been involved in liaising with ages care facilities and community to streamline and facilitate continuity of aged care. In practice he has engaged in a range of procedures including vasectomies, flexible sigmoidoscopies, wedge resections and skin flap rotations etc. Neil heads up a team of committed and experienced Supervisors who all bring to Registrars a diverse range of specialities - dermatology, sexual health, and chronic disease management. Registrars would have access and exposure to these differing skills whilst working at the practice. The mix of younger practitioners offers a good level of peer support and collegiality.

Includes: Observed consultation, scheduled one on one daily review time, structured tutorials, informal corridor teaching, availability to sit in on consultations, video of consultations, access to the doctor in the Nurse Unit who is essentially floating therfore easily accessible. Al ldoctors in the practice are available for help during a consultation if requested
Method/forms of teaching:
Observational, professional clinical meeting every Tuesday 1pm - 2pm which all doctors attend - Visiting doctors/speakers attend regularly and/or presentations given. Weekly scheduled tutorials for Registrars provided by doctors in the practice or external visitors. See also Practice Teaching Style above

Suturing, Plaster, ECG's, intra-articular injections, subcutaneous hormonal implants, removals, biopsies, ABI's, Infusions, Tympanometry, Spirometries, Audiometries, Cryotherapy, Diathermy, Sclerotherapy, Mirena, Immunisations including travel medicine, extensive wound management, basic procedures normal to a hospital resident, Ear wax Microsuction, Infusions (Aclasta, Iron).
