The Registrar will be expected to participate in the following clinical activities within the department under the direct supervsison of the team consultant:

  1. Acute general medicine unselected on call roster 1:4 – liasing wiith the Emergency Department and the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) to facilitate timely admisisons/ expedite patient flow; registrar on call is part on the MET, code blue and code black call team
  2. Clinical Handover meeting every morning, presentation and review of new admissions, diagnostic and management plan discussioh: Part of clinical handover includes participation in the EDD (expected date of discharge) Huddle meetings with specific focus on proactive discharge planning
  3. Daily Clinical ward rounds, including 3 consultant led ward rounds, as well as registrar led ward rounds
  4. Weekly Allied Health meeting, focussing on complex discharges and liaising with allied health staff and families
  5. Weekly outpatient (ambulatory care) clinic with team consultant supervision
  6. ETT (stress test) supervision (weekly) liaising with the Cardiac Nurse
  7. Report cases to the Coroner as directed by team consultant
  8. Discharge planning┬áliaising with primary health care providers, help with discharge summaries’
  9. Participate in CP activities’
  10. Day Case medical work – including supervising elective day cases attending for chest drains/abdominal paracentesis, lumbar punctures, biopsies (lung or liver) and patients on home iv antibiotics attending for review
  11. JMO reaching (including interns and undergraduate students_
