Practice training style:
Our GP supervisors form educational alliances with registrars that provide the foundation for deep and broad learning to the art and craft of general practice. Registrars are predominantly taught by their direct supervisor but will learn from the full range of health professionals at the centre through informal contact. Most training will occur ‘during patient care’ and registrars will be given the level of responsibility for patient management that meets their stage of training. Supervisors, or their proxy, will be available for advice and support at all times during consultation sessions
Method/forms of teaching:
Includes topic based tutorials, case based learning, ‘corridor teaching’, medical record audits, observed consultations (of supervisor by registrar and vice versa) including the option of video , aiming to adapt these to best suit the registrar's learning style and needs.
Procedures reg will be able to undertake during placements:
Skin biopsies, Mirena/Implanon insertion and removals, suturing wound repairs, minor ops, iron infusion. If working in the Allergy Clinic- skin prick & intradermal testing, patch testing, immunotherapy and oral food and drug challenges
