Expedition Medicine - Special Skills & Advanced Rural Skills Posts
These are flexible, innovative posts designed to meet the needs, abilities, and interests of the individual GP Registrar. The posts are currently offered by General Practice Training Tasmania and Coast City Country Training (CCCT)
We plan to expand the program to other areas, so feel free to contact us to explore whether a post can be established in your region.
Clinical attachments are varied and include travel medicine clinics, alpine sports medicine clinics, emergency medicine attachments, and for suitably experienced Registrars may involve work in Antarctica or as a Ship Medical Officer with the Polar Medicine Unit www.aad.gov.au
In Tasmania there are established opportunities for teaching on Remote Area First Aid courses. Registrars will find that the travel medicine component will dovetail well with the Postgraduate Certificate in Travel Medicine
Registrars will attend at least one Short Course in Expedition Medicine. Opportunities exist to attend other relevant courses.
